Evergreen’s General Manager Greg Johnson is preparing to take the stage at the Plastics Recycling Conference, North America’s largest gathering of plastics recycling and sustainability professionals. The annual event, set for March 7-9 in National Harbour, Maryland outside of Washington DC, attracts 2,000 industry leaders, decision makers, and media with an interest in industry news, innovations, products, and services.

Johnson, who overseas Evergreen’s four plastics recycling and rPET manufacturing plants across North America, is part of a high-powered panel discussion on Tuesday, March 8, on Private Equity’s Impacts on the plastics recycling industry. Evergreen is a portfolio company of the Sterling Group, and over the last 18 months, the company has invested some $200 million in expanding Evergreen’s footprint and transforming its recycling and manufacturing capabilities. The panel also includes:
- John Griffin, Director, The Sterling Group
- Alexandra Tennant, Senior Analyst for PET/RPET, Wood Mackenzie
- Moderator: Maite Quinn-Richards, Managing Director, Closed Loop Partners
In recent years, funding from the investment community has reshaped the plastics processing landscape, helping stakeholders meet end-consumer demand for sustainable products. This session offers an inside look at a company, Evergreen, in which private equity dollars have allowed the PET recycling and rPET manufacturing operation to significantly expand and vertically integrate. The panel will also offer analysis on where the investment trend in the industry may develop in the years to come. Find a complete session description here.
